Anne Stone joined CST in 2019 when her private practice combined with the firm. Anne concentrates her professional practice in the areas of income taxation, estate and gift planning and personal finance. Prior to opening her law offices in 1993 and forming Anne L. Stone & Associates, LLC in 1997, she was partner in charge of the Personal Financial Planning Practice of KPMG Peat Marwick in Washington, D.C. She provided tax consulting services to professional service firms, middle market business, corporate executives, and high wealth individuals for more than 24 years with KPMG. Anne was the first woman to be admitted to the partnership from the Washington DC office of KPMG.
Her services include tax consulting and advice on specific transactions and long term plans, tax compliance services for individuals, families, trusts, estates and related entities, financial modeling and analysis, and representation before various tax authorities.
Ms. Stone received a Bachelor of Science degree in Commerce with distinction from the University of Virginia. She was a member of Beta Gamma Sigma honorary fraternity. She received her Juris Doctor cum laude from Georgetown University Law Center where she was awarded the Sewall Key Prize for achieving the highest grades of her graduating class in the field of taxation.
She has served on the Board of the Community Tax Law Project and the Student Affairs Business Advisory Board of Clemson University and the Advisory Board of the Northern Virginia Community Foundation. She is a former member of the Board of Visitors of the Kogod College of the American University and of the Asbury Foundation. She has served on the Alumni Advisory Board of the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia, as Treasurer and member of the Board of Directors of the Speech and Language Center of Northern Virginia, Inc. and as a Trustee of the KPMG Peat Marwick Foundation. She has served as past chairman and Trustee of Learning Foundations of Metropolitan Washington, Inc. which operates Commonwealth Academy.
Anne and her husband, Philip E. Stone, are long- time residents of Great Falls, Virginia.
