COVID-19 Virtual Fundraiser Supporting Cornerstones
Please help the Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce YP Council support Cornerstones through their COVID-19 virtual fundraiser between 4/24 and 5/22. Cornerstones is a local nonprofit organization that has helped our neighbors overcome tough economic times for nearly 50 years. Their programs support and advocate for those in need of food, shelter, affordable housing, quality childcare, and other human services. Please consider donating today – even the smallest donation goes a long way.
CST Supports Cornerstones Thanksgiving Food Drive
The Cornerstones Thanksgiving Food Drive assists families through challenging times and reminds everyone how important it is to give during the holiday season. CST Group is proud to support the Cornerstones Thanksgiving Food Drive for over ten years.
This year, CST donated 11 boxes valued at $550.00 and 27 gift cards worth $660.00. CST would like to thank all those who participated this year and Andrew Lampropoulos, CST Senior Associate, for helping lead the drive for the company three years in a row. Donations included canned fruit and vegetables, boxed stuffing, baking and snack mixes, and gift cards to purchase a ham or turkey.
Cornerstones is a nonprofit organization that promotes self- sufficiency by providing support and advocacy for those in need. Cornerstones holds the Thanksgiving Food Drive every year.

CST to Sponsor Public Art Reston Annual Reception
CST will sponsor the annual reception for Public Art Reston. The unveiling of artwork will take place at the Colts Neck Underpass and will be in the presence of artist Ben Volta.
CST is excited to sponsor Public Art Reston’s annual reception and values its commitment to the Reston community.

A few permanently sited works of art include Basket of Flowers, located near the Greater Reston Arts Center, Berlin Wall Fragment, located at the Bundeswehr Command Headquarters, and Book of Love, located outside of the Reston Regional Library.

CST Team Members Participate in Food for Others 5K
CST team members recently participated in the annual Tysons 5K Run for Food for Others; a 4 star charity helping to fight hunger in the nation’s wealthiest region. With each registration, proceeds helped provide milk and eggs for 15 families. In addition to the runners, other CST team members made monetary contributions.

Participants chose between a 1 mile Fun Run and the 5K. Awards were given to the top three male and female finishers and prizes were awarded to largest team, fastest team, and team that donated the most food. CST would like to congratulate Jack Belo for finishing 1st place overall!

CST Group Helps Sponsor Play FORE the Cure Charity Golf Tournament
CST Group, among others, helped sponsor the 2nd annual Play FORE The Cure Charity Golf Tournament. The event, sponsored by Mackenzie’s Mission, helped support the fight against Amyloidosis. Amyloidosis is the accumulation of abnormal proteins in the heart, liver and kidneys that can lead to severe organ failure. Net proceeds funded the Amyloidosis Speakers Bureau and leading research institutions to pursue improved treatment methods and a desperately needed cure.
The tournament was held at the esteemed Robert Trent Jones Golf Club (RTJ) on Monday, September 9, 2019. RTJ has been a host of four Presidents’ Cup Tournaments, the PGA Tour Tiger Woods/ Quicken Loans National, and is widely respected nationwide as a premier private course.

VSCPA Scholarship, funded by CST Group, Awarded to Emily Coppa
College scholarship recipients, for the 2019–2020 academic year, were recently selected by the (VSCPA) Educational Foundation. The 2019 recipient for the VSCPA Scholarship, funded by CST Group, has been recently awarded to Emily Coppa, a student at the University of Virginia.
The CST Group Scholarship was established by CST’s founder, Charles Cocke, to support the education and development of promising, ambitious accounting students. CST is proud to award Emily Coppa with the 2019 scholarship and wishes her the best in future endeavors. Congratulations Emily!
Kendall Coleman, CST Group Partner, Elected as Treasurer for the Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce Starting July 1, 2019
The Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce (GRCC) elected Kendall R. Coleman, Jr., CPA, CGMA, CCA, Partner of CST Group, CPAs to assume the role of Treasurer of the Board of Directors at the Chamber’s annual meeting on June 27, 2019. CST Group has been a founding member of the Chamber since 1984 and Coleman has been a member of the Board of Directors since 2017.
Coleman has more than 25 years of experience providing accounting and advisory services to closely held businesses and their owners. His expertise includes an emphasis on complex industries, including real estate and construction companies, government contractors, and professional service providers.
“I am looking forward to serving as the treasurer this year to help foster business growth in the Reston area and provide valuable programs for our members” said Coleman, “my deep cross-industry knowledge will help guide the GRCC as we work to accomplish our strategic goals.”
CST Manager Brooke Bostwick Becomes Alumna of Leadership Fairfax
We would like to congratulate CST Manager Brooke Bostwick for recently becoming an alumna of Leadership Fairfax, Emerging Leadership Institute (ELI). Leadership Fairfax is a non-profit organization that offers leadership development programs to the community.
On June 12, Leadership Fairfax staff, volunteers, coaches, faculty and supporters welcomed two new classes of alumni to the already 1900+ cohort that count Leadership Fairfax as part of their experience.
Graduates were honored at a celebration at Reston Town Center which featured an inspirational keynote address by Charlene Wheeless, Leadership Fairfax Institute (LFI)’98, welcoming words from Chair Huey Battle, LFI’01 and presentation of colors by South Lakes High School JROTC.
“The Fairfax Leadership Emerging Leaders Institute was an incredible experience that I am so honored to have participated in. Throughout the program, I gained invaluable insight into my own leadership potential and the Fairfax Community which I have been able to successfully incorporate into both my professional and personal endeavors,” stated Bostwick.

CST Partner, Kathy Jensen, Completed 3-Day Charity Run in Honor of 9/11 Victims
Over 60 athletes completed a 3 day charity run known as the 9/11 Promise Run. This event honors the inspiring victims and heroic first responders of the September 11th, 2001 attacks.
Among the athletes was CST Partner, Kathy Jensen, and her husband. Participants ran alongside the CEO and employees of the exceptional veteran-owned, run, and operated business Flags of Valor. The groups covered a 240-mile journey from the Pentagon to Ground Zero in only 72 hours. Each runner was committed to cover approximately 30 to 35 miles over the 3 day period (September 9th -11th). This year, participants raised over $65,000 for Hope for the Warriors- a nonprofit organization that aides post 9/11 service members, veterans, and their families to reestablish their sense of self and hope.

CST Employees Help with Cornerstones Back to School Drive
CST employees and other volunteers recently helped Cornerstones equip 3,000 K-12 children, in the Reston- Herndon area, with brand new backpacks for the 2018-2019 academic year. Seasonal drives, like the Cornerstones Back to School Drive, make a tremendous difference in our community and helps bring a positive impact to families in need. Embry Rucker Community Shelter
CST staff recently collected items for the Embry Rucker Community Shelter. This residential shelter provides a healthy and safe environment for families and single men and women in need of emergency housing. This emergency shelter is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and employs 20 full-time staff members. CST Scholarship through the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants (VSCPA)
The CST Group Annual Scholarship is awarded to a junior or senior accounting major at the University of Virginia or George Mason University who has demonstrated academic excellence and financial need to pursue a career in public accounting. This $2,500 scholarship is administered by the VSCPA Educational Foundation.
